Your Questions About Natural Remedies

Michael asks…

How to get rid of a sore throat fast?

I need to get rid of a sore throat fast. Home remedies please.

vti answers:

Dissolve a teaspoon of salt and a sprinkle of baking soda in a pint of warm water and gargle for a minimum of 30 seconds. If you do this every hour or so you’ll find it soothing. Well, all but the salty flavour, as I tend to go a little overboard with the salt myself, but a teaspoon per pint of water is just enough salt to mimic the body’s own natural saline content. And if you’re concerned about your sodium intake, don’t swallow, just spit it out. I prefer to make up a jar and pour from it only what you need each time.

A spoonful to bourbon or whiskey to a glass of warm water to gargle will help numb a sore throat.

Honey or lemon juice in a hot tea or hot water sipped throughout the day is soothing as well.

Ruth asks…

How do I get rid of this sore throat fast?

It’s 4 days until Christmas and I woke up this morning and my throat was a little sore. We always go up to my Grandmas on Christmas and spend the night there. My mom probably wont let me if I am sick. Plus, I don’t want to be sick on Christmas so i decided to heal my sore throat before it even started so does anyone have any home remedies and recipes to get rid of this sore throat? Help me out please.

Hi,
I know how miserable it is to have a sore throat! Here are some home remedies I found over the internet:
This link http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/sore_throat.html has a TON of things you can do. The Lemon and Honey this one REALLY works. I had a sore throat this morning after I drank it my throat is just fine. I felt better as soon as I had one sip!
All so what my mom says to do is get a cup of hot water (As hot as you can handle) Poor in as much salt as you can endure, And gargle, do this several times a day.
I hope you have a good Christmas, And that I helped.
Bye! 😛
P.S. Please give me feed back if I am chosen best answer!

David asks…

How to cure a persistent sore throat that does not include a cough or stuffed nose?

For the past week and a half, I have been battling a sore throat. At first it was painful constantly so I took Nyquil and used Vicks on my throat-the works. Well now, the sore throat is more of a constant reminder every time I swallow than painful. I do not want to visit a doctor because lately I have been there for other reasons and I’m tired of going there.

Do you know of any home remedies to cure this or foods that seem to zap away soreness or anything, really?

I would be forever grateful, thanks! Have a good weekend!

vti answers:

Gargling with warm water with 1tsp of regular salt will help soothe your throat. Do this 2-3 times a day. Honey, and ground black pepper is also good for sore throat.
Drink warm beverages like herbal teas, that will also help sooth a sore throat.
You can also try steam inhalation 1-3 times a day to loosen up any mucus in your throat which can also be present.
Hope you feel better soon

Laura asks…

I feel a sore throat coming on?

What can I do to stop it from coming and what are some home remedies for sore throats?
Thanks.

vti answers:

Most sore throats are caused by a minor illness and go away without medical treatment.
Treatment for a sore throat depends on the cause. You may be able to use home treatment to obtain relief.

These tips may help you feel better.
*Gargle with warm salt water to help reduce swelling and relieve discomfort:
Gargle at least once each hour with 1tsp (5g) of salt dissolved in 8fl oz of warm water.
*Prevent dehydration. Fluids may help thin secretions and soothe an irritated throat. Hot fluids, such as tea or soup, may help decrease throat irritation.
*Use a vaporizer or humidifier in your bedroom.
*Warm or cool mist may help you feel more comfortable by soothing the swollen air passages. It may also relieve hoarseness.
Consider taking nonprescription medicine for your symptoms.
*Use nonprescription throat lozenges.
* Some nonprescription throat lozenges, such as Sucrets Maximum Strength or Spec-T, are safe and effective and have medicine (local anesthetic) that numbs the throat to soothe pain.
* Regular cough drops may also help.
*Use a decongestant.
Decongestants make breathing easier by shrinking swollen mucous membranes in the nose, allowing air to pass through. They also help relieve a runny nose and postnasal drip, which can cause a sore throat.
