Nancy asks…

What are good foods to eat to help remedy and keep hearburn ( acid reflux ) at bay?

What are good foods / drinks to have when you have acid reflux / heartburn?

Also are there natural cures, instead of meds?

vti answers:

I’m not sure about remedies but staying away from certain foods helps: acidic foods (tomato sauce, orange juice), spicy foods, caffeine, and sodas.

Hope that helps.

vti answers:

Anything that isn’t greasy Myalanta liquid or tablets also
Quick-eze I have found always does the trick as it kills the acid in your stomach don’t drink coke or pepsi as that will wash the lining off your stomach and give you heartburn I have even stopped drinking too much water as this gives me heartburn and sometimes I expect you have had a drink of milk but unless you have no fat milk ordinary milk has fats in it
the only cures you can get is your eating habits stay away from burghers anything fried and soft drinks unless its pure apple juice that seems to cure a lot of things try smaller meals and stay away from food that gives you indigestion
There are tablets for reflux but they are under presciption but if you take a visit to your chemist and ask him he will give you some sound advice on what causes it

Lisa asks…

How can I stop my acid reflux from eroding my teeth?

I am 15 years old and I have acid reflux, which causes great stress on my teeth. Though I’ve only had heart burn a few times, I have been told by dentists that I have acid reflux. My teeth are riddled with cavities from this disease, and I’m getting really sick of it. How can I stop it from eroding my teeth?

vti answers:

How about I do one better and tell you how to get rid of it? I used to have it bad and used the cider vinegar. Unlike the medicines which have harmful side effects. Notice I said I used to have acid reflux.

George asks…

I had my Gallbladder taken out 5 months ago?

As a result i have really bad acid reflux. It is really painful. I got a prescription from the pharmacy but it makes it worse…is there any natural remedies besides dieting?

vti answers:

You had your gallbladder taken out because of your poor diet. The liver has to take over the funciton of the gallbladder, but it does take a little bit of time for that to happen. If you don’t change your diet, you will still have problems, just more of them. Acid reflux is one, which will turn into GERD (same disease, just more severe). High cholesterol is another. Then high blood pressure and follow that with heart disease. You also might develop adult onset diabetes, but that isn’t related to having your gallbladder out, just your poor diet. If you want to be healthy, then just make the changes necessary in your diet. Or, you can continue to pay the doctor and pharmacy tons of money and still be miserable.

Charles asks…

How effective is the use of apple cider vinegar in acid reflux?

I have a friend who has acid reflux and I am wondering about methods of helping her without rx drugs or zantac. How effective is apple cider vinegar in the treatment of acid relux and are there other things out there that would help? Thank you

vti answers:

Apparently the most common natural remedy. 2Tsp Apple Cider Vinegar in water 3 times a day.
See URL Link www.earthclinic.com/CURES/acid_reflus.html
6 small meals a day vs 3 large
Do not lie down with a full stomach
Prop at least 3 pillows in bed for your head, so acid, food does not reflux back up the esophagus
Stay away from greasy, fatty foods, citrus, caffeine…irritants
