looking for home remedy for pink eye?

Try this site, this product is wonderful. Also, I’ve almost lactated for the last 10 years straight (we have 4 kiddos under 9) and whenever someone (in our household of kids and my hubby only of course!) had “goopy” eyes, I expressed some breastmilk into a sterilized cup and used that as an eye wash. A miracle. When the baby had red eyes, I would just express right in his or her eyes then wipe it with a clean tissue. Warm, sterile and soothing. Doesn’t get much better than that.

What are some home remedies for pink eye?
What are some ways to shorten the time of the infection?

vti answers:

If it is bacterial pink eye no home remedies can treat it. You will need antibiotic ointment.

Pink eye can show up when you least expect it, and it is very contagious. There is more than one type of pink eye, and how you treat it depends on the type. If it is bacterial you need antibiotic ointment or drops. There is no particular treatment for viral pink eye. If it is an allergy that is causing your difficulty you may need anti-inflammatories or antihistamines. Frequent hand washing is crucial to prevent spreading the virus or bacteria, depending on which type you have. There is also something called CLARE, or contact lens induced acute red eye. Sleeping in contacts makes the eye more susceptible to inflammation/infection.

Daniel asks…

Are their any good home remedies for pink eye in a child?

My daughter seems to get pink eye all the time and the Dr just keeps giving her medicated drops. Does anyone know of anything else that I can try?

vti answers:

Hi! Yes! We have an old Greek home remedy – make a pot of chamomile tea and really let the tea bag steep in there a while, when its cooled down quite a bit, pour some into a small bowl and get a clean washcloth, and a towel. Drape your daughter with the towel to catch the spillage, and dip the washcloth into the chamomile tea. Squeeze some into your daughters eye, flooding it and letting it spill out of her eye in a “cleansing action”. Repeat several times. Let her rest, then do it every couple of hours.

My boyfriend recently had pink eye, so I looked up natural remedies on the internet, and low and behold, my family’s chamomile remedy kept coming up. So I did that and I also gave him Reiki (I am a Reiki Master). His pink eye was gone in about 3 or 4 days.

Hope your daughter gets well soon!
